Passionate Faith That Seeks God More Than a Dating Relationship

Hope you all have had a good week. I have been reading through and listening to the book of Lamentations as I prepare to do a deep study of the book this year. One of the most famous passages out of the book is found in Chapter 3, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” It is a reminder that even in times that seem a little bit heavy two things are very true always, 1) God’s love is always there for us, which means so much in how we should approach life. 2) Because of that love our hope is in him and nothing else. Nothing else will complete us or make us feel content in life except God.

We will talk about that this week as we shift our Passionate Faith series to look at how our faith should shape our relationships, more especially as our teens move through stages of life over the next several years, what their dating relationships should look like. This week we look at the need to seek God more than a relationship. My hope is that they will understand, it is God who makes them whole and that a dating relationship is a compliment to their life with God.

Passionate Faith That Seeks God More Than a Dating Relationship

Outline
A passionate faith recognizes that only Christ can truly fulfill us, and no dating relationship should replace our devotion to Him.

·       Scripture Says We Are Already Complete in Christ

“6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” Colossians 2:6-10
